Funds overview
Treasury is being gradually rolled out throughout 2026. Read about Early access. Once enabled, Funds required and Currency conversions are moving from Payments to the Treasury tab. The Payments tab will still include your Manage payments screen to track and approve payments.
Required user roles: Finance manager or Finance approver
Or custom roles that include permissions: View balance or View payments
- This is being gradually rolled out to single-entity, single-currency Accounts Payable & Mass Payment payers. For the old screen, see Funds required.
- This article is about how to assess and track your funds. To add funds, go to Fund Tipalti accounts.
Funds overview gives you a single, easy‑to‑understand place to see how much funding you’ll need to complete payments in the current cycle. It helps you keep track of your required funds, currencies, and upcoming payments for multiple virtual accounts in one dashboard.
It brings together the drivers of funding needs, including scheduled and pending approval payments, fees, and card transactions, and shows whether your available funds cover them. When you’re short of funds, it highlights the funds required so you can act in time. The Funds overview screen allows you to:
- Get a snapshot of your funds without juggling multiple pages or spreadsheets.
- Make faster decisions on when to Add funds or Convert currency.
- Reduce manual aggregation and get fewer surprises on payment day.
View account balances
Users with the View balance permission can view account balances displayed in the header of Funds overview.
From here, you can also Add funds or Convert currency (the currency conversion button is only for US-based entities only).
The Add funds button opens the funding dialogue, where you can select your preferred funding method and the amount you want to add. To expedite funding, eligible USD accounts have the funding card pre-selected and the amount pre-filled. For more info, go to Fund Tipalti accounts.
The Convert currency button opens the currency conversion flow. For UK and EU-based entities, Multi FX is not currently supported in the Tipalti Hub, but you can convert currencies by submitting a manual request. For more info, go to Fund Multi-FX accounts.
Understand your payment cycle
In Funds overview, you can keep track of your payment cycle and know when to add funds, and drill down with filters such as payability and payment approval status.
Projected funds required
The Projected funds required chart shows the amount of funding needed, displayed in the same currency as the virtual account. To the left are the totals: Payout amount, Available funds, and Missing funds.
Amount |
Description |
How it's calculated |
Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upcoming payments | Total of all payments in the selected cycle. Always visible and automatically reflected in the total funds required. |

⚠️ This calculation is based on upcoming payment amounts and does not include bills still in the bill cycle. ❗ Changes in payee payment methods or exchange rate fluctuations may affect the amounts displayed. |
| Other payments due today | The total of any outstanding or overdue payments not in the selected cycle. | Payments that fall outside your selected cycle date range but are due today. | |
| Available funds | Current available balance for the cycle. | The combined amount of funds in your account (in your virtual account currency) for the selected cycle. | |
| Missing funds | Total funds required for the cycle. | The extra amount needed, beyond available funds, to cover all payouts for the selected cycle. |
Customize your view
Adjust by cycle dates
To adjust the chart’s date range, click on Cycle and select the dates to view the funds required for that period.
- The default cycle is the current week (last 7 days). Use the date picker to adjust to your required timeframe.
- You can select any timeframe from the last 30 days to the next 60 days. For longer date ranges, use the horizontal scroll to view any days that are outside of the chart.
- Click on a date in the chart to show a breakdown for that day. Each day has a bar:
- Blue = portion of the day’s payout covered by your available funds
- Red = missing funds (the gap you need to add)
- Click on the bar to show the breakdown per day, including:
- Payout amount
- Tipalti invoice (outstanding fees)
- Available funds
- Missing funds
Graph bars are only clickable on days that have actual payment orders. Days without payment orders are not interactive.
Adjust by filters
You can customize the data in the Projected funds required chart with the following filters:
-
Payability (select to display only Payable or Unpayable payees)
Unpayable shows the sum of payments that can’t be paid due to missing or incorrect payee details (including scheduled and pending approval payments). - Approval status: (select approved or not approved)
A Clear all option appears dynamically whenever a non-default filter selection is applied, making it easy to reset your view.
These filters help you sort the data in the chart to fit your needs, e.g., to view data for only approved and payable payments, select Approval status: Approved and Payability: Payable.
Your Cycle, Payability, and Approval status selections will stay selected and displayed in your following sessions.
View payment order list
You can also view a payment order list by clicking on the blue bars in the Projected funds required table. This makes it easier to review payment orders and funding details at a glance, and quickly see List details.
You can review payment information with sortable columns such as Payee, Payment amount, Withholding, Payer transactions & FX fees, Funding amount, Payer ref code, and Status. Add filters to narrow results and click Download CSV to export the list.
Common questions
Why don’t I see Funds overview in the Tipalti Hub?
You may not have permissions to view and manage payments and funds. Required roles are Finance manager and Finance approver, or any custom role that includes View balance or View payments. For more on Roles and permissions, go to User roles.
Does Funds overview support multiple virtual accounts or multi‑currency?
Not yet. Funds overview currently focuses on single‑currency accounts. You can use the Convert currency button for MFX. To learn more, go to Fund Multi-FX accounts.
Why does the chart show missing funds when the account is funded?
Account balances refresh slightly after the funding is processed. Depending on the selected timing (same-day, next-day, etc) and funding method (card, wire, local transfer, etc), funding times can vary. Try refreshing or returning later in the day.
If you added funds by card, you can view a summary of pending funding transactions. Make sure you’re viewing a USD virtual account, go to Payments > Account statement, and click See card transactions. For more information on funding times and methods, go to Fund your accounts.
Can I export the Projected funds data via CSV?
Exporting the Projected funds required chart is planned for future releases. In the meantime, you can export existing reports or get AI-powered reports from Tipalti. For more info, go to Reports.
Do I get notified when funds are required?
Yes, depending on your notification settings, you’ll receive emails detailing payments that require funds. If you’re a US-based payer with card funding, you’ll have a direct link to fund your account by card. For more info, go to Email notifications.
